Privacy Notice for Register a Food Business feedback from food business operators

Information about the privacy notice for Register a Food Business feedback, why we require data, what we do with the data and your rights.

The Food Standards Agency will be what is known as the ‘Data Controller’ of the personal data provided to us.

Purpose and lawful basis for processing

We need to collect this feedback information to improve our online food business digital registration service. We also use feedback to review and improve the food business registration advice and guidance provided to businesses.

We do this in line with the performance of our official functions and in the exercise of the official authority vested in us under the Food Standards Act 1999 to protect public health from risks, which may arise in connection with the consumption of food.  We will not collect any personal data from you which we do not need.

What we need and how we use it

We collect your name, address, telephone number and email. This information is required to enable us to contact you for feedback.

We also collect information regarding the nature of your business, your awareness of the need to register and your reasons for registering. We do this to help us improve business advice and make the registration process as efficient as possible.

We may also ask you questions and hold information relating to your experience of registering so we can improve the Register a Food Business digital service.

How and where we store your data and who we may share it with 

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to carry out these purposes, and in line with our retention policy. This means that the information will be retained for as long as a business remains registered and/or approved as a food business operator.  Historical lists of registered and/or approved businesses are retained for 6 years.
