Executive Summary
Food Fraud/Food Crime
The theme of this meeting is Food Fraud/Food Crime. The meeting will be held at Queen’s University Belfast, followed by a tour of their facilities. To set the context, the Committee will receive a presentation from the FSA food fraud liaison officer who will outline the role of the National Food Crime Unit (NFCU), examples of food crime, the FSA’s intelligence and investigations role, training, and future work.
The Committee will then receive a presentation from the Institute for Global Food Security followed by a tour of their facilities.
Following the tour, there will be an opportunity for the Committee to discuss the theme in more detail, allowing NIFAC members to ask questions to help inform the Committee’s advice and information to the FSA on this topic.
There will also be a discussion around themes for the 2024 NIFAC meetings and a session where members can feed back on any recent stakeholder engagement.

• Consider themes for 2024 NIFAC meetings.

The Committee will receive a presentation from the IGFS officials.
11:30 – 12:30 Tour of Facilities
The Committee will be given a tour of the Queen’s University Belfast/IGFS facilities.
12:30 – 13:00 Discussion
The Committee will have an opportunity to discuss the theme in more detail and ask questions.
