FSA announces the appointment of Junior Johnson as Director of Operations
Emily Miles, Chief Executive of the Food Standards Agency, has confirmed that she has appointed Junior Johnson as Director of Operations.
Junior will take up his role in May. He is currently a Deputy Director in the Ministry of Justice, heading up the Prison Scrutiny, Performance and Engagement division, where he has led work on performance transparency across the whole prison and probation system.
Our Chief Executive Emily Miles said: ‘I’m delighted that Junior is taking up the role of Director of Operations. He comes to us with a strong track record for operational delivery from the Ministry of Justice and from the Department for Work and Pensions, and a passion for inclusive leadership and strong delivery. He came top in a very strong field of applicants for this post.
‘I’m also very grateful to Simon Tunnicliffe, who has been Acting Director of Operations in the interim period, and will be until Junior’s arrival. Simon has been doing a fantastic job at a challenging time for operations, and we have been in safe hands.'
Junior said: ‘I am really looking forward to joining the FSA and working with its staff, delivery partners and stakeholders to ensure food you can trust. I’ve heard so much about what the FSA does and I am full of admiration for how the organisation has managed the impact of the pandemic while progressing reform plans. I am very much looking forward to being part of it.’
