Application for a Regulated Product Authorisation Service.

The Application for a Regulated Product Authorisation Service (Opens in a new window) is run by the Food Standards Agency. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this service. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

Compliance status

This service is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons. We are working closely with the external developers to rectify these issues.

The link in the web page header to business guidance is the same link as the adjacent link. This is due to the structure of the Food Standards Agency website.

The link on the submission page for a second submission is showing as a suspicious link.

Headings and page structure

Headings have not been implemented correctly (1.3.1 Info and Relationships).  There is a skipped header and possible heading on the Application Form page. On Manufacturers address page and upload data protection page there are form labels not correctly associated with a form control. Underlined text is present on the excluded annexes page.

Error handling

Errors are not identified, and suggestions are not provided on the file uploads for Technical and Annex document upload pages to help users correct the error (3.3.1 Error Identification, 3.3.3 Error Suggestion).

Select Elements

Select elements were inaccessibly marked-up for assistive technology users (1.3.1 Info and Relationships, 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value, 4.1.3 Status Messages)

The Confidentiality Request template and Data Protection Request template are currently word documents.
