Bernard Forteath is a qualified environmental health officer who worked for over 40 years in local government, latterly as Director of Environmental Services for Renfrewshire Council. His experience covered all areas of environmental health work, in addition to having been responsible for running a large in-house catering operation providing meals to schools and social work premises.
Mr Forteath is a member of the Council of the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS) and was President in 1988 and 2007.He is also an Honorary Member and Fellow of REHIS and a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health.
He was President of the International Federation of Environmental Health, an organisation representing the interests of environmental health professionals around the world, from 2008 until 2010, and is currently public relations officer of that organisation.
