Beat the Bingo Bug!
To help stop the rise in food poisoning in the over 60s caused by the food bug listeria, the Food Standards Agency Northern Ireland, safefood and district councils in Northern Ireland have produced a game packed with hygiene messages. The game is called 'Beat the Bingo Bug!'
Eat Safe award scheme withdrawn
The Eat Safe award scheme, which is administered by the Food Standards Agency and district councils, is being withdrawn in Northern Ireland due to the introduction of the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS). The withdrawal of the scheme is to help give consumers a single and consistent message regarding hygiene standards.
How to beat the bug this summer
This year's Food Safety Week runs from the 7-13 June with a focus on preventing campylobacter food poisoning by highlighting the importance of proper cooking and avoiding cross contamination.

Safe Catering is FSA Northern Ireland's food safety management guide. It has been developed with help and expertise from the food industry and local authorities. This guide will help catering businesses to produce a food safety management plan based on HACCP principles and to keep records appropriate to their business.
Scores on the Doors in Northern Ireland
In Northern Ireland some District Councils are currently operating 'scores on the doors' schemes. These schemes are not part of the Food Standards Agency's national Food Hygiene Rating Scheme run in Northern Ireland, England and Wales, or the Food Hygiene Information Scheme in Scotland.
