Advisory committee on science to meet

The General Advisory Committee on Science (GACS) is issuing an open invitation to its fifth meeting, which will be held in London on 4 March 2010.
GACS provides independent challenge and advice on how the Food Standards Agency collects and uses scientific evidence. The group is made up of 14 experts and two lay members, and it is chaired by Professor Colin Blakemore.
At the meeting the committee will be discussing:
- the Agency’s science and evidence priorities for the coming year
- science in the scientific advisory committees
- the distinction between risk assessment and risk management
- the Agency’s approach to horizon scanning
- reviewing the scientific advisory committees
