Advisory committee seeks new member
Tuesday 15 September 2009
The Advisory Committee on Animal Feedingstuffs (ACAF), an independent committee that advises the Agency and UK Agriculture Ministers on the safety and use of animal feeds, with particular emphasis on protecting human health, is seeking a new committee member.
Applicants must have five years' experience as a microbiologist, be strong team workers, be able to demonstrate effective written and verbal skills, have sound judgement and strong analytical and problem solving skills. They must be able to work in a committee structure and be able to weigh issues outside their own specialist area. An interest in animal feed is desirable, but detailed knowledge of the subject is not necessary as training will be provided.
The post represents an excellent opportunity to contribute to food safety and standards in the UK. The appointment is normally for three years. ACAF meets four times a year, mostly in London. Members are not salaried, although reasonable expenses are reimbursed and there is some remuneration to cover attendance of meetings.
The closing date for receipt of completed applications is 3 November 2009.
