Agency salt campaign hits the road
Tuesday 6 October 2009
The FSA’s Go Lower road show will be touring the UK during October, persuading shoppers at major supermarkets to taste lower-salt varieties of everyday foods, and giving them tips to help them become more ‘salt savvy’.
Visitors to the stand will be urged to take the 4-week Go Lower Salt Challenge, using a special Salt Challenge Diary. The challenge encourages people to make gradual changes to their diet by trying lower-salt varieties of one food each week, such as bread, breakfast cereal, ketchup or pasta sauce.
Shoppers will be given vouchers to get money off lower-salt products in the store. The diary also includes a credit-card-sized reminder of what to look for on the label to find out if a food is high, medium or low in salt.
