Thursday 12 November 2009
At its open meeting in London on Tuesday, the Food Standards Agency Board reaffirmed its commitment to science and independent challenge.
In a statement it said: 'The core principles of the FSA are: putting consumers first; openness; independence and being science and evidence based.
'To assist in the science and evidence base, we are advised by 10 advisory committees and working groups consisting of 150 independent scientists. The FSA Board endorses the principles for the treatment of scientific advice issued by UK scientists on 6 November. These were signed by Lord Krebs (former FSA Chair) and Professor Colin Blakemore, currently Chair of the FSA General Advisory Committee on Science.'
