Batch of Bisto Favourite Gravy Granules recalled
Tuesday 31 March 2009
Premier Foods has recalled a specific batch code of Bisto Favourite Gravy Granules due to incorrect allergen labelling information. Because some Bisto Favourite Gravy Granules drums have been incorrectly filled with Turkey Gravy Granules the batch contains milk and egg, which are not declared on the label. The Agency has issued an Allergy Alert.
Product details
The batch being recalled is:
- Bisto Favourite Gravy Granules
- June 2010 8354 A14 XX:XX (ie all times)
- Pack size 360g
People with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents and an allergy to egg are advised not eat this product. The product is sold exclusively through Asda and Iceland stores and if you have bought the product you can return it to the shop for a refund.
No other Bisto products or retailers are known to be affected by this recall.
The company has recalled the affected product and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will inform their at-risk members of the recall. Notices are being displayed in store to alert consumers to the reasons for the recall and the actions they can take if they have purchased the product.
Allergy alerts
Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold. Then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product). Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk.
In such situations the Agency will issue an Allergy Alert. It is also possible to subscribe to an email alert system to receive automatic messages whenever Allergy Alerts are issued. Click on 'Get alerts' in the box at the bottom of this page to find more details.
You can get details of all the latest allergy alerts as soon as they're issued by getting the details sent as a SMS text message direct to your mobile phone.
To sign up to this free service, simply send the text message ‘START ALLERGY’ to the number 62372. To unsubscribe, just text 'STOP ALLERGY' to the same number.
