ACAF open meeting 5 June 2009
Thursday 18 June 2009
The Advisory Committee On Animal Feedingstuffs (ACAF) held its latest open meeting in Llandudno on 5 June 2009.
The Committee was updated on arrangements for a General Advisory Committee on Science (GACS) horizon scanning workshop to be held on 24 June 2009. A report of the workshop will be published on the Agency website for comment and further input from interested parties.
The Committee was also updated on the preparations for a two-week audit mission to the UK from 16 June 2009 by the European Commission’s Food and Veterinary Office (FVO). The FVO inspectors will evaluate compliance with EC feed legislation and assess the UK’s control systems for feed hygiene.
During the meeting a pre-publication copy of the Code of Practice for the Control of Salmonella in Feedingstuffs was endorsed. Comments on a draft guidance document on record-keeping for farmers in respect of statutory controls on feed hygiene were also made.
The next ACAF meeting is scheduled to take place at the Food Standards Agency’s headquarters in London on 23 September 2009. As usual, this will be an open meeting.
