Update on Pakstar Curried Chick Peas alert

The Food Standards Agency has issued an updated Food Alert for Action on cans of Pakstar Curried Chick Peas.
The Agency issued a Food Alert for Action on 23 December asking local authority food law enforcement officers to make sure the product is withdrawn from sale and destroyed. Following investigations by the Agency, in conjunction with local authorities, a number of establishments selling the product throughout the country have been identified, and action taken to remove the product from sale.
Cans of Pakstar brand Curried Chick Peas have been produced on a West Yorkshire premises that has been served with a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Order, because of food hygiene contraventions and insufficient canning controls.
If you have bought a can of Pakstar brand Curried Chick Peas, you are advised not to eat the product.

Actions to be taken by enforcement authorities
If any of this product is found during routine inspections, enforcement officers should ensure that the product is withdrawn from sale and destroyed, if necessary using powers under the Food Safety Act 1990 and Regulation 27 of the Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006. In the event of a local authority finding significant quantities of this product they are asked to inform the FSA immediately of the shop and the amount found.
