Walkers recalls some crisps

Walkers has recalled some of its crisps, because of the possible presence of pieces of yellow rubber in the products. The Agency has issued a Food Alert for Information.

The products being recalled are:
- Walkers Crisps
- Best before: 17 January 2009, all batch code numbers ending in 306
- A variety of different flavours, sizes and pack formats are possibly affected
Walkers has recalled the affected products from sale. Product recall notices will appear in the national press today, 4 December 2008. Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all retail outlets. Copies can be found at the link below together with a full list of the products that might be affected. These notices explain why the products have been recalled and tell customers to phone the free helpline on 0800 274 777 for a full refund.
Food Alerts
If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product). Food alerts are the FSA's way of letting local authorities and consumers know about problems associated with food and, in some cases, providing details of specific action to be taken.
