Waitrose recalls Shortcrust Mince Pies
Wednesday 12 December 2007
Waitrose has recalled a batch of its own-brand Shortcrust Mince Pies because there could be pieces of plastic in the product. The Agency has issued a Food Alert for Information.
Waitrose has recalled the affected batch from sale and displayed product recall notices in all its stores. These notices tell the public the reason for the recall and explain that customers can return the product to the store for a full refund.
Product details
The product recalled is:
- Waitrose box of 6 Shortcrust Mince Pies
- Production code: 289* AN1 BB 03 JAN
No other Waitrose products or batch codes are known to be affected.
For further information, customers can contact the Waitrose Customer Service Department on 0800 188884.
Food Alerts
If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be 'withdrawn' (taken off the shelves) or 'recalled' (when customers are asked to return the product). Food alerts are the FSA's way of letting local authorities and consumers know about problems associated with food and, in some cases, providing details of specific action to be taken. They are issued under two categories:
- Food Alerts: for Action
- Food Alerts: for Information
You can get FSA alerts either by email or SMS text. Visit the Get Alerts page at the link below to find out how.
