July 2008 update on Official Controls

This is an update on the development of the European Commission proposals for implementing rules under Regulation 882/2004 on official controls for import controls for 'high-risk' feed and food of non-animal origin.

It seeks views on the UK position on the main issues and the latest draft list of ‘high risk’ products subject to the proposed rules and information to assist in the assessment of the likely costs and benefits for enforcement bodies, businesses and consumers arising from the measures proposed. Comments are invited by 15 August 2008.
