Stakeholder workshop on the future of official controls for fresh meat and poultry
Thursday 26 February 2009
A stakeholder workshop on the Future of Official Controls for Fresh Meat and Poultry was held on 30 September 2008 with consultants from Warwick Business School.
The purpose of the workshop was to review stakeholders’ attitudes towards the current system of official controls for the production of fresh meat and poultry, and to consider what a new approach might look like. The workshop was run with a range of stakeholders including veterinary scientists, consumer representatives, industry representatives, government agencies, Meat Hygiene Service, FSA and others.
The workshop produced data which has been analysed using Soft Systems Methodology and summarised in a report to the Food Standards Agency. The Agency is currently considering how to take the workshop results forward.
