Executive summary
The Authority had begun to implement improvements in its food enforcement service which was particularly evident in the degree and quality of food hygiene enforcement activity undertaken in the last two years. There were however a number of significant deficiencies that still needed to be addressed.
A keystone in a modern food enforcement service is an accurate and up to date database and the Authority needs to address deficiencies in its database software that prevents it effectively interrogating the data held. Improvements in this area will allow the Authority to address the other deficiencies in the food enforcement service, improving the quality of records held, implementing effective inspection programmes and assisting in efficient internal monitoring.
