Executive Summary
The Authority's Strengths
Food Service Plan – A detailed, comprehensive and well written Service Plan has been produced, which meets the requirements of The Standard.
Food Premises Database – A check on the accuracy of the database showed that 15 out of 15 businesses randomly selected had been entered in to the database.
Food Hazard Warnings – A procedure has been produced for responding to food hazard warnings. The use of a new summary sheet has recently been implemented.
Food Standards Inspections – The Authority has drawn up a programme for food standards inspections, which commenced in April 2001. This has been prioritised based on an assessment of risk.
Internal Monitoring – A procedure has been produced and implemented.
Feedingstuffs – The Authority are addressing their responsibilities for feedingstuffs enforcement.
Follow-Up Action to Year 1 Non-Conformances – These have been completed within the specified timescale and the audit file has been formally closed.
Key Areas for Improvement
Food Sampling – The Authority has produced a sampling programme. However, on
receipt of sample results, Officers have not always followed the Authority's policy for dealing with sampling reports.
Records and Reports – Reports following inspections are not always sent to proprietors within the Authority's specified timescale.
Records and Reports – Reports following combined low risk food standards and food hygiene inspections, do not always detail food standards findings when no contraventions are found.
