The Authority’s Strengths
Service Plan - A detailed, comprehensive and well written Service Plan has been produced, which meets the requirements of The Standard.
Food Sampling - The Authority has produced a sampling programme. Examination of the sampling files indicates that Officers have followed the appropriate policy and procedures.
Food Premises Database - A check on the accuracy of the database showed that 15 out of 15 businesses randomly selected had been entered in to the database.
Control and Investigation of Outbreaks and Food Related Infectious Diseases - The Authority have set up and implemented a documented procedure for the investigation of outbreaks. This document is currently under review. Investigation of the most recent outbreak has been carried out in accordance with this procedure.
Follow-Up Action to Year 1 Non-Conformances - To date those that have required action have been completed, within the specified timescale.
Key Areas for Improvement
Food Standards Inspections - The Authority does not currently have a documented procedure for carrying out food standards inspections.
Records - There is insufficient detail of programmed food standards inspections within the premises files.
Reports - In the majority of reports sent to proprietors following programmed food standards inspections, findings are not always detailed. Reports and correspondence to proprietors are inconsistent across the area offices.
Policy Documents - Some documents require to be reviewed, amended and updated.
