Executive summary
Service Plan - A detailed, comprehensive and well written Service Plan has been produced, which meets the requirements of The Standard.
Food Standards Inspections - From the files checked it appears that food standards inspections have been carried out in accordance with the Food Safety Act 1990 Code of Practice No.8.
The Authority's Strengths
Food Premises Database - A check on the accuracy of the database showed that 15 out of 15 businesses randomly selected had been entered into the database. Detailed information is contained within this database.
Control and Investigation of Outbreaks and Food Related Infectious Diseases - Carried out in accordance with procedure (Health Board outbreak document under review.)
Records and Reports - These were found to be comprehensive and retrievable.
Key Areas For Improvement
Reviewing and Updating of Documented Policies and Procedures - The procedure for Investigating Food Related Infectious Diseases requires to be updated.
Food Sampling - The Authority has produced a sampling programme. Examination of the sampling files indicates that Officers have followed the appropriate policy and procedures with regards to recording sample results. However, sample failures had not always been followed up.
