The Authority's Strengths
Food Standards Inspections - From the files checked it appears that food standards inspections of businesses that have been rated have been carried out at the frequency set out in the Food Safety Act 1990 Code of Practice No.8.
Equipment - The Authority has made available all necessary equipment to permit all activities associated with the Service to be carried out.
Food Premises Database - A check on the accuracy of the database showed that 15 out of 15 businesses randomly selected had been entered on to the database. Premises records were comprehensive.
Food Safety Promotion - The Authority are implementing food safety promotional activities.
Key Areas for Improvement
Food Service Plan - Details regarding feedingstuffs should also be included within the Service Plan.
Reports - Reports sent following combined food hygiene and food standards inspections do not always detail the findings of the food standards inspection.
Records - In some cases records of food standards inspections are not on file.
Facilities and Equipment - The "Maintenance of Equipment Procedure" was not being fully implemented and the calibration records were incomplete.
