Wyre Borough Council
Wednesday 8 February 2006
13 October 2005
Executive Summary
The Authority's Service Plan included relevant references to Home Authority activity and it was clear that the Authority supported the Home Authority Principle (HAP).
It was evident that the Authority was considering the HAP when carrying out food safety enforcement work and, in general, referrals had been made to other local authorities where appropriate. The Authority generally provided comprehensive advice to businesses during their day to day enforcement activity. However, the procedures for inspections, complaints and sampling needed to be reviewed and amended to reflect home authority work.
The Authority was able to provide evidence of an impressive range of diverse and valuable food initiatives. This included innovative and prominent projects aimed at the community as well as business.
It was recognised that central government initiatives relating to food hygiene education in schools and support and advice to business were being taken up and actively pursued.
