The Authority supported the Home Authority Principle (HAP) and had informal arrangements with 20 food businesses. The Authority was considering the HAP when carrying out food law enforcement and referrals had been made to other local authorities that acted as home or originating authorities in respect of unsatisfactory food samples and complaints. Appropriate action had been taken where referrals had been received from other enforcement bodies.

Advisory and promotional work was included in the service planning process and had been successfully integrated into the day to day work carried out by the Service. An impressive range and diversity of appropriate initiatives were being undertaken and comprehensive records of this work were being maintained.
