Shropshire County Council
Thursday 26 January 2006
1 September 2005
Executive Summary
It was clear that the Authority supported the Home Authority Principle (HAP) and had informal agreements with 59 locally based food businesses. The Authority was considering the HAP when carrying out food standards and feeding stuffs enforcement, and where appropriate, referrals had been made to other local authorities that acted as home or originating authorities in respect of unsatisfactory food/feeding stuff samples and complaints.
Where home authority referrals had been made to the Authority from other enforcement bodies appropriate action had been taken.
The Authority was clearly working with food businesses to help them comply with food and feeding stuffs legislation. However, there was a need to ensure that all businesses received sufficient written information to enable them to be able to comply with legislative requirements and that this was done in a timely manner. Further development of monitoring procedures would help to achieve this.
The Authority was undertaking a range of food standards and feeding stuffs promotional activities.
