Huntingdonshire District Council
Monday 20 February 2006
25 October 2005
Executive Summary
It was clear that the Authority supported the Home Authority Principle (HAP) and had a formal agreement with one local food business. The Authoritys Service Plan and the majority of relevant procedures included appropriate references to home authority activity.
File checks confirmed that the Authority was considering the HAP when carrying out food safety enforcement. Appropriate action had been taken in response to referrals received from other local authorities, and thorough investigations of food complaints, including effective liaison with home/originating authorities, where appropriate, were carried out.
It was clear that the Authority was working with food businesses to help them comply with food safety legislation, and advisory and promotional work was comprehensively detailed in the service planning process. A number of initiatives in relation to advice to business and food safety promotion had been developed and relevant links established with other organisations to facilitate this work.
