Breckland District Council
Thursday 15 December 2005
21 July 2005
Executive Summary
The Authority was proactively supporting the Home Authority Principle (HAP), having established formal agreements with four local food businesses and acting informally for a number of others. The HAP was taken into account when officers carried out food safety law enforcement work and in the investigation and follow-up of referrals received from other enforcement authorities.
The Authoritys documented policies and procedures for operational activities made appropriate references to home authority considerations and included a procedure specific to the local home authority partnership arrangements.
The Authority provided comprehensive and detailed information that demonstrated a longstanding and proactive commitment to assist businesses and promote food safety. These initiatives involved all relevant staff and were impressive in terms of their range, diversity and value.
The Service had achieved a very high standard of managed recordkeeping and record control across all activity areas and information sources examined during this audit.
