Shepway District Council and Port Health Authority
Thursday 16 September 2004
13 January 2004
Executive summary
The Authority was not aware that any foods had been imported through the Port of Folkestone or Lydd Airport for many years, and there was no evidence from the audit to indicate otherwise.
The Authority had established effective local liaison arrangements with port management at the sea and air ports in relation to general food hygiene responsibilities, and which also provided a means by which the Authority would be notified of any consignments of imported foods.
In the event of a significant change in activity at the ports, and the commencement of a trade in imported foods, the Authority was confident that it would receive sufficient notice to implement appropriate and effective controls.
