Eden District Council
Monday 24 January 2005
27 - 29 October 2004
Executive summary
The Authority was operating an appropriate and effective programme of internal monitoring of both quantitative and qualitative aspects of most areas of their food law enforcement activity. The effectiveness of the monitoring was evident in file and database checks carried out during the audit, where comprehensive records provided evidence of a consistently high level of performance by all members of staff.
The Authority had been subject to a number of audits as part of an inter authority audit scheme. The Service had also undertaken a Best Value review. It was evident that all issues raised by these external audit initiatives had been considered and appropriate improvements implemented.
