The public will wish to be aware that a smoked catfish product has been found on sale labelled with an identification mark that has been withdrawn by the issuing authority. There is strong evidence that the product being sold is not that of residual stock produced prior to the withdrawal of the identification mark.
Despite enquiries by investigating officers in the London area, where product was found on sale, it has not been possible to obtain details of the source of this product, distribution details or product traceability records. The product has mainly been found on sale in small, independent stores.

Actions to be taken by local authorities:
As this product is labelled with an unapproved identification mark that has been withdrawn, it does not comply with the requirements of Regulation 27 of the Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006 as amended.
If any of this product is found on sale it should be withdrawn and destroyed. Please also send any relevant information to: foodincidents@foodstandards.gsi.gov.uk.
