Food Alert: for Information
Ref: 04/2006 (Update1)
Following the Food Alert for Information 04/2006 issued on 19 January 2006 which notified of two batches of the above product being withdrawn, Ferrosan Ltd has now withdrawn all batch codes of Imedeen Prime Renewal food supplements due to the undeclared presence of irradiated white tea extract.
Ferrosan Ltd. wrote to all recipients of the product on February 10th requesting that they withdraw all Imedeen Prime Renewal from sale and return it to their distributor.
Tea extract is not a product that is allowed to be sold as irradiated, and there is no evidence that the irradiation had been carried out at an approved food irradiation plant. As such, the import and sale of the products does not comply with the Food (Control of Irradiation) Regulations 1990.
In addition, as the products are not labelled as being irradiated they do not comply with The Food Labelling Regulations 1996.
There are no immediate food safety implications arising from these irradiated products.
